REPORT OF OUR TAI-CHI CHUAN TRAVEL TO CHINA OCTOBER 2005

As our trip has been a very intense and rich experience, to place here all the information is going to take some time. To start with I would like to point here - apart from our tourist activities- what we did on behalf of our newly created Asociación Hispano China de Tai-Chi.

1 - Men Hui Feng: During two days in Beijing we studied with him his “Dong Yue Tai-Chi Chuan”

2 - Zhao Zengfu and his sons: For some days in Xian we were learning from this master and his son Zhao Chao and we visited them at their house. We also knew some of their disciples. Zhang and I visited by our side an old Zhaobao practitioner, he is 101 years old and is in quite good shape, as well as visited Wang Pei Hua, who is 76 years old and bent Zhang with his strong gong-fu.

3 - Zhaobao Meeting in Wudang (To have more detailed information go to the special link of news about Wudang Zhaobao style upper in this page)

Different personalities attended the Meeting, important names in the style, groups, associations, great masters and some other foreign practitioner besides our Spanish Team.

Our Association - Hispano China de Tai Chi - won several awards.

We exchanged different points of view with participants as well as with masters and made new friends and new contacts.

Some conferences were held as well as different performances.

4 - Wang Haizhou and his family: We visited Zhaobao village and Wang Haizhou where we could see the whole family training.

5 - Chen Jiagou: The home village of the Chen family, birthplace of this style. We did not visit any master there for being short of time

6 - Exchanges in Beijing: We met and practised in Zi Zhu Yuan Park with the group of Chen Yu Hua and her husband Zhen Yu Cai, from Zixi Training Center. And in Zhong Guan Cun, with Wu-Shu Association members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

7 - Wei Shu Ren: Zhang and his students visited him at his house and performed an exhibition there of his 22 form Yang style and after went for lunch with him.

8 - Zhang and I visited Kan Gui Xiang and Men Hui Feng again for long time talk.

Although we were near to do it, we could not finally visit master Feng Zhiqiang. The group of students went back to Spain and Zhang and I went to Shenyang, where we practised with Feng Jingchun and his daughter as well as another master.

Eva Koskuba, from United Kingdom, lectured on the "Chan Si Jing" (silk reeling), Chen style typical feature, and included practical work on pairs as well.

Nathan J. Managed, from the USA, gave a short course on fencing, reaching levels close to pure art with sword. Aspects like working in pairs, sword against sword, martial applications, etc, were dealt with.

Zhang Xiu Mu, who lives in Barcelona (but just back from a trip to his home China) gave a workshop on the "bei si kou", first in relation with the Zhao Bao style, and the second day in relation with the Yang style. The last day of his workshop he taught some nei-gong aspects of the broadsword Yang style routine.
